Opportunities Available to Book Retail and Promotional Space at a Range of UK Leisure Venues
SpaceandPeople have a fantastic portfolio of leisure venues within some of the busiest cities and commuter areas in the UK. Visitors to leisure venues are looking to enjoy time with friends and family. They are therefore typically more open to new experiences and spending. The variety of options within leisure venues make them an attractive offer for both prospective brands and customers. Leisure venues allow retailers, charities and other organisations to conveniently exhibit their range/cause and benefit from high footfall.
We have worked with leisure venues to supplement the attractions they have within their venue. This has included longer term attractions such as Jurassic Rides, an interactive experience with a range of ride on dinosaurs, which has been a big hit with the families-centric audience. Other attractions such as simulators, augmented reality experiences and gaming offerings help increase the dwell time of visitors to the venue. In addition, children’s rides are also extremely popular as are pop-up experiences. A notable example of this is the Big Kids Circus which visited XSite Braehead over the Scottish October break.
Leisure venues tend to have a diverse F&B mix to cater for a range of audiences. The most popular retailers we place into such venues are grab and go treat foods such as churros, ice cream and shaved ice. However, where there is an opportunity to expand the retail mix, smaller scale food retailers can thrive. Pizza 1889 has enjoyed success operating from a converted shipping container in Cambridge Leisure Park and has recently been joined by Press Coffee and Juice, who trade from a bespoke pod.
Leisure venues are also a great option for car brands. There have been several automotive brands who have embarked on roadshows recently which have included leisure venues. In carrying out such a placement, car brands are allowing customers to get up close to a model they may not have previously considered.
Promoting in more leisure focussed venues also offers an effective route for certain customer acquisition campaigns. This works particularly well with a more family centric offering including photographers and tutors. Likewise, sampling campaigns can work well. Costa Coffee for example visited a range of leisure venues with their sampling roadshow in the run up to Christmas 2021. Leisure venues provide brands, promoters, and retailers with a fantastic channel to reach their target audience when they are receptive to engagement.
